Bizarro Patient Zero

My (Internet*) Viral Week, and moving right along.

*I think I probably irritated the heck out of my favorite nurse by sending him links with the subject line I’m Viral!

It’s funny - having my post all over the world’s internets made me freeze up from my normal everyday blogging. I’m back on it - first, a few little recaps.

My favorite international post -

Hungary! Because Hungarian is so cool and unintelligible to me. (I wonder if there’s a term for the visual appeal of a language? Bet this guy knows what it is.) Also, the Dutch word for cancer is “kanker,” which I imagine is said with a jolly accent, so sometimes I let that rattle around jollily in my head.

My favorite comment -

This one in Jezebel where the commenter believes that I am a bit. To wit:

Well this is a joke.”Dobrawsky” is pretty close to “Broflovski”, as in Kyle. This is obviously set up by a Eric Cartman, and Stan and Kyle have to shut it down. Maybe even with Wendy, because she fucking hates cancer. (Edit comment)

My “how did it get there?” award -

Adweek.

I can’t possibly list all the comments, links, messages, tweets, likes and reblogs and I thank everyone who cared enough to do so.

People have been asking me if the South Park folks have contacted me. Nope. And I’m OK with that, and I’ll be OK if they do. We’ll keep an eye on things, and perhaps nudge things along a bit.**

As my good English friend Cap’n Crunch (his unchosen pseudonym) said to me, in short, that your job’s already done. People are talking, laughing, perhaps cringing a bit, commiserating, sharing their stories, and cheering on a lesser-known but good cause.

I’ve got more followers and more readers and hopefully it’s done people some good.

And I’m happy about that. Because that’s kind of the point.

Another point, which I know but forget, is just keeping people I care about and who care about me apprised of my situation. I had lunch with a good friend, LadyLawyerLunchbuddy (I do love nicknames), and she said she follows my blog, because it makes her feel like she’s just spoken to me, while still allowing me my space. (I’m terribly un-chatty believe it or not, and even more so these days). My family and friends get a good idea of my current state of mind, and perhaps a laugh and a cringe as well. And that’s good, too.

So, my point is, whether or not Mr Hankey was the height of my popularity, I’ll keep on blogging. I’ll be away from the computer next week when I go into surgery, unless my morphine-addled brain and numbish fingers can peck out a post or two.

**Well, it worked for Betty White, right? As usual, the self-promoting side gets the better of the bashful side. Go forth, multiply, retweet, like, link, etc etc etc!
